Student Travellers

At Mtana, we fully understand the needs of young travellers, schools, colleges and universities. As such, we are able to put together a combination of wilderness and wildlife, traditional culture, language, volunteering and adventure experiences to suit your requirements. This has the potential to help young people appreciate the Kenyan experience in its totality. It is an opportunity to challenge your ideas and commonly held beliefs about a people through a life changing experience.
Our programmes offer you the opportunity to tailor your educational experience along your specific academic objectives and goals. in order to maximize on the experience. In all our programmes, we include the following activities
1. Wildlife viewing and sightseeing

2. Volunteering and Community Service
In this programme, young people/students will spent some time at an orphanage, community based organisation or a school. Here, they will assist the locals in doing all manner of activities such as building schools, feeding disabled children, teaching, cooking, repairing desks basically getting involved in voluntary work.
At other times, the young people will be involved in desnaring exercises in the parks, animal censuring, bird and other inventories, beach cleanups among others. This experience is meant to not only enrich the lives of the young people bet also impact the rural communities positively.
3. Cultural exchange programmes
Staying with the locals for agreed periods of time, a wonderful opportunity to learn the culture of the Kenyan communities.
Get to learn about their origin, culture and traditions, rites of passage, way of life, economic activities, ceremonies food etc.
We may also incorporate language programmes- opportunity to learn Kiswahili in an exciting environment

4. Outdoor adventures
Our outdoor programme is an opportunity to build character, learn team work and make new friends and endurance in an exciting atmosphere of fun. Our skilled coaches, will take you through a variety of exciting activities at your own pace. All that is asked of you is a positive attitude and a willingness to try your best.
For student researchers, we offer research assistants as well as assist with data collection such as administering questionnaires. We can also arrange access to certain areas of parks and reserves that tourists cannot access e.g. sensitive habitats.
